Sternfeld beschreibt hier etwa 60 alternative/utopische Kommunen in den USA, jeweils mit einer Seite Text und einem Ganzseitenbild. Die Texte sind informativ, die Bilder haben Sternfeld-Qualität.
Fazit: Kein Bildband im klassischen Sinn, sondern eher ein illustriertes Verzeichnis. Der Bilder wegen lohnte der Kauf nicht.
Yet the failure of the Soviet Union in no way implies the eventual failure of small, "human scale" experiments. In fact, a very cleasr disdinction needs to be made between the communal ideal and Marxism. They both value collectivity, however, they are worlds apart in how they have valued it, and to what ends.
